Staying comfortable and connected this autumn

October 2026 · Monthly newsletter

Seasonal changes can affect everyday routines, particularly for someone receiving care at home. Our October care edition looks at comfort, familiar routines and noticing when an existing care plan may need a review.

Review the everyday essentials

Consider whether the person can comfortably reach warm clothing, drinks, meals and the items they use most often. Check lighting around entrances and walkways, and discuss trip hazards without making changes that the person has not agreed to.

Care should support the individual's preferences, not replace them. Ask what makes them feel comfortable at home and which parts of their day they want help with. Small adjustments can be included in a care-plan discussion.

Keep communication personal

Agree how the person would like family members or trusted contacts to stay in touch. A predictable call or visit can be reassuring, but consent and privacy remain important. Do not assume that information should be shared with everyone.

  • Keep agreed contact details accessible.
  • Discuss who should be contacted if needs change.
  • Notice changes in appetite, mobility or confidence and raise concerns with the appropriate professional.

Know when to ask for a review

If daily tasks are taking longer or the person is struggling between visits, speak with the care team about reassessment. INT Care Solutions provides domiciliary, complex and cancer care; the appropriate support depends on an individual assessment and agreed plan.

This newsletter provides general information, not medical advice. Contact a clinician about health concerns; call 999 for an emergency or NHS 111 for urgent medical help that is not an emergency.

This month's takeaway

Comfort, consent and regular communication should stay at the centre of care.
